World Record Rules & Format
Some records deal with tournament play and some deal with shots performed on the side. Records that deal with tournament play may only be broken during the actual competition. Records that are 'on the side' shots will have time allocated after the players meeting for players (and anyone else) to try and break them. Only attempts during these supervised time sessions will be recorded and recognized. Please note that some tournaments will have this time allocated at other times.
A signup sheet will be available at the tournament desk, starting about 15 minutes before the players meeting. Players may signup as many times as they want. If a player signs up multiple times, that players will take one turn, then wait until all other players have had one turn, and then they will get their second turn, and so on. This is to ensure that everyone gets an equal chance.
If the records are attempted at other times throughout the tournament, the signup sheet will be available about 15 minutes prior to those time slots. If any players are still on the list from a previous time slot, they will be placed at the top of the next list.
It will cost $10 for each signup. Players who are volunteers for committees will only have to pay $5. This money is to be used for awards which will be given to the current record holders. Any extra money will be used for future tournament expenses.
Each time a player signs up, they will get 3 attempts at any record they choose. They can even split it over multiple records. For example, during a player's turn, they may take 1 attempt at a record, and then 2 attempts at a different record.
We are always open to adding new record categories. Any new record added will be unofficial until there are 2 tournaments held where we have attempts at setting / breaking it. At least one of these events must be a ranking event.
At some events, conditions may not allow for certain records to be attempted. For example, making 15 balls in 1 pocket may be impossible on some (or most) drop pocket tables. In addition, if certain equipment (like the high jump bar) is damaged or unavailable, those records will not be attempted. Please note that we will try to have extra high jump bars that other players have to ensure that there is always at least one available at each tournament.
